Apple is not the only tech company planning to have a big fall with a new mobile phone announcement. Nokia is set to unveil its latest Lumia 920 mobile phone at a special event with Microsoft on September 5th. The Nokia Lumia 920 release date comes in the midst of an Apple storm as the world awaits the release of the next iPhone. Nokia and Microsoft are trying to get ahead of Apple by announcing the release of the Lumia 920 earlier than the new iPhone, but they will still have their work cut out for them.
The Lumia 920 will be Nokia’s flagship Microsoft phone and does pack some impressive hardware. Easily the most impressive aspect of the Lumia 920 is the wireless charging. Wireless charging has not been introduced to the main stream market yet but could get a major boost with the expected success of the Lumia 920. In addition to the wireless charging, Nokia’s Lumia 920 will also include 32GB of device storage, 1GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5-inch HD display and an 8 megapixel PureView Camera. According to leaked photos, the Nokia Lumia 920 will have five color options – red, yellow, white, grey and black
The Lumia 920 release comes just months after Nokia botched the release of the Lumia 900. The Lumia 900 was a nightmare from the start. After a poorly executed Easter Sunday release, Nokia has confirmed that the Lumia 900 had data connecting problems. The Lumia 900 connecting problem was apparently a “memory management” issue and was fixed back in April.
As mentioned above Nokia and Microsoft will have their work cut out for them as Apple is preparing to launch their newest phone as well. This holiday season will be crucial for all mobile phone manufacturers as the success of their handsets will be based on the the public’s gifting habits.
Can the Lumia 920 take a chunk out of the Apple pie or will the iPhone trump all mobile phone announcements this fall?
